Today I…drew a stage manager octopus after being inspired by some tangent made in class today. I’m basically in love with it.
As a person who stage manages and has a tattoo of an octopus, I feel like this is my spirit animal.
I got to witness a room full of people tap dancing to Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” tonight. My job can be really awesome.
It still weirds me out that people are coming to me to ask if I want to stage manage their stuff. My brain still goes, “What? People WANT to hire me for things? I don’t have to beg them and send them 4000 letters of recommendation and bags of cookies and a suitcase full of 100s?”
People who assume they have ‘more work’ than a theatre major because they’re a ‘legitimate’ major.
Are there any job sites I’m not checking? I’ve got BackstageJobs, Artsearch, Playbill, Chicago Artists Resource, Entertainmentcareers.net, the demon spawn known as Craigslist…anything else?
Local sites are okay, but I’d prefer to avoid New York at this point. Thanks in advance, Tumblrpeeps!
